Abstract
The paper deals with the design of water outlet device in the form of polypropylene branch pipe with a locking bolt welded to the bottom of a water supply system made of polypropylene pipe in a distributive network of cold water supply. Water freezing in the branch pipe and overcooling of a locking bolt at extremely low temperatures is determined by means of the numerical solution for the thermal problem of temperature distribution in the outlet device. Improvement of the outlet device design can be done by adding the heat-conducting rod, flown over by the water from water supply system, to the lock bolt. It is shown that the proposed design of the outlet device is not exposed to overcooling under extremely low temperatures, provided that the branch pipe length, thickness of the heat-conducting rod, and the thermal insulation layer for a given standard size of the branch pipe and the chosen metal for the lock bolt with the heat-conducting rod has been chosen properly. The Delphi-7 based software with a data input form was developed for keyboard of all necessary data, visualization of temperature change dynamics in reference points, and an output of stationary temperature distribution in the outlet device.
