Abstract
The changes of qualitative characteristics are analysed for 85 umbilical cord blood samples, as their nucleus-containing cells have been tested in the process of cryoconservation, defreezing and removal of the cryoprotectant. The method of cryopreservation used for umbilical cord blood, and the technique of purging cryoprotectant from the cord blood after thawing by means of an automated system are found to provide for the best quality in an umbilical cord blood samples.
Keywords: cryopreservation, cryoprotectant, haemapoietic stem cells, umbilical cord blood, viability, long-term storage
