Abstract
To make an efficient oil-free seal it is important to know how to calculate the loads on piston rings. A system of differential equations is offered to identify pressure differences for the rings and loads for different parameters of the seal. It is possible to unload the rings by providing equal distribution of pressure differences over the multipiece ring seal. This solution expands the scope of applying self-lubricating materials
