Abstract
Various methods of food waste processing are developed and improved to control their use. Among all methods of food waste processing, pyrolysis can be distinguished. The essence of this method lies in the high-temperature effect on the product, which results in the decomposition of organic and some inorganic compounds. The purpose of this work was to review scientific papers in the field of food waste pyrolysis. For the purpose, domestic and foreign sources were analyzed by the relevant keywords. A fairly large segment of scientific papers in the field of food waste pyrolysis concerns the pyrolysis of shells. This is due to the fact that the shell and nut branches have a low content of mineral components, which is a favorable factor for processing this raw material into carbon adsorbents. A great number of research is carried out to compare the indicators of adsorbents obtained from food waste by pyrolysis. Carbon-based sorbents can be obtained from food waste using pyrolysis and steam activation, which will be effective in the field of ecology - to handle air and water pollution caused by industrial emissions. In most works, the temperature regime of pyrolysis is 400…600 °C, however, there were works with the use of a lower temperature regime – 250…400 °C. In conclusion, it is noted that pyrolysis is an effective method of processing food waste into raw materials that are useful from an ecological and energy point of view. Improving pyrolysis technologies, selecting optimal technological modes and design parameters of pyrolyzers will increase the efficiency of processing food waste in general and improve the ecological situation of the planet.
